AboutCode accepted to Google Summer of Code!

nexB is proud to announce Google has chosen AboutCode as a mentor organization for Google Summer of Code 2019!

This will be nexB‘s second time participating in the Google Summer of Code program (GSoC). GSoC is a summer program that encourages student developers to work on and learn about open source development. Google sponsors select students to work on open source projects for three months. nexB is excited to work again with the best and brightest students who are passionate about open source development. Before participating directly as an organization, we have been long time mentors and organization co-administrators for other open source projects including the Eclipse Foundation, the Linux Foundation (SPDX) and the strace project.

Learn more about the growing community of users and contributors that make up the nexB team here! We have been mentors in previous years for Eclipse.org, strace and SPDX. We are also co-mentoring this year for SPDX.org.

AboutCode projects

AboutCode is a nexB top-level project that provides a framework for a set of open source tools to identify the origin, licensing and usage of software. Our goal for GSoC is to engage students who want to learn how real open source development works. Students who are interested should apply when the application process goes live on March 25, 2019. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the open source community and get hands on experience writing code while earning a stipend. Check out GSoC 2019 AboutCode for project ideas and application details.
